Durham Unite in The Community welcomed the Unite Young Members to Red Hills today.
The Durham Unite Community members updated the Young Members on the work the branch has been doing. In return the young industrial members brought piles of clothes for our clothing bank, promises of financial support and help with volunteering! Thank you – it was lovely to meet you all.
There was also time for a joint photo sending solidarity to our Irish comrades
Before moving on to a fine Christmas buffet which was also attended by members of the Durham Miners Association who were in the building
If that was not enough, Durham Unite Community then held their own, very productive, branch meeting, which looked at campaigns for 2015. The focus will be on welfare. As 2015 is an election year this will be a very important year for Unite Community members- and our industrial colleagues. We have to get the word out that austerity does not work, that being poor is not a crime and that things have to change. More details on upcoming campaigns will be publicised nearer the time.
