Public Meeting

FIRE SERVICE CUTS COST LIVES

WITH A SPEAKER FROM THE FIRE BRIGADES UNION (FBU)

Wednesday 11 December • 6.30pm

St John’s Church Hall, Grainger St, Newcastle. NE1 5JG

Dear colleague,

Due to massive funding cuts, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service are proposing implementing the following life-risking measures:

The loss of 131 fire-fighter posts.

The closure of Gosforth and Wallsend fire stations with plans for a new station to cover the areas.

The closure of Sunderland Central fire station.

The removal of 6 fire engines on a permanent basis with others removed on a night-time and the loss of an aerial ladder platform.

Cuts in crewing levels across the service.

These are the most devastating cuts in the service’s history and will mean fire-fighters and the public will be at far greater risk if these cuts go ahead. The cuts must be resisted.

Come to the public meeting to find out the latest from the campaign and how you can get involved.

Please share this email and the attached poster with your members.

Yours in solidarity,

Simon Hall and Tony Dowling
